Established as Japan's first six-year pharmaceutical university which opens the way to medical care of the 21st century.

It is considered that the 21st century's medical care shifts toward "individual medication for each patient" and "preventive care" prior to a disease treatment. Also "proper use of medical supplies" and "prevention of medical error" are becoming more important as a result of fear of a medical accident in clinical practice. A pharmacist plays a prominent role in all such circumstances. Our school aims to develop pharmacists who can comply with the needs of the times.

In 2002, in prospect of the six-year pharmaceutical education, the Pharmaceutical Society of Japan suggested "pharmaceutical education model core curriculum" to cope with the situation. In addition to the curriculum, the school implements the six-year consistent education including enhancement of liberal arts and clinical pharmacy and a long-term practical training, and furthermore conducts a curriculum aiming to foster pharmacists who contribute to "individual medical care" and "preventive care" in accord with a recommendation of "the council for the improvement in the education of pharmaceutical science".
